Wealthy buyers pick up bargains in Rocky View County

Heavy discounting of high-end homes in one area of Alberta has attracted the interest of wealthy buyers. Rocky View County has seen seven MLS sales above $3 million in 2015 compared to just one last year according to Calgary Real Estate Board. Rachelle Starnes of Royal LePage Foothills told the Calgary Herald that it’s been a record year: “There were some incredible deals to be had with $5 million homes selling for $3 million and a handful of properties that had been on the market on and off for over three years, finally getting sold.” Properties over $1 million are also selling but at far lower levels than 2014; there were 128 MLS sales over $1 million up to the end of October compared to 205 for the same period last year.
