This market could be heading for a low

The housing market in the Halifax Regional Municipality are lower than they have been for some time with sales trending lower. The Chronicle Herald reports that one un-named real estate broker said that Halifax may currently be the “buyers’ market of buyers’ markets” and the Nova Scotia Association of Realtors said: “The trend for home sales in the Halifax-Dartmouth region with residential units sold does show a decline, in keeping with the provincial trend.” Sales in 2011 were 5,914 units followed by a spike in 2012 to 5,958 but they have been in decline since. Sales for the year so far (again from the un-named source) are 3,379. Some are calling for the city to scrap the 1.5 per cent deed transfer tax on real estate transactions to help the market.
