Tips to make moving day as pain-free as possible

Moving can be one of the most stressful events in a person’s life. Hours upon hours of work goes into finding a new home, preparing and packing all your belongings. It’s no easy feat. But, it’s moving day and your gruelling job is nearly done.

Check out these helpful tips for advice on how to make your moving day stress, injury and trouble free. Well, almost!

Be Physically and Mentally Ready:
Let’s face it, moving is exhausting. And if you are not well rested, hydrated and fuelled, you simply won’t make it, even if you have hired professional movers to help. Clearly, you’ve been working overtime to try and get everything ready, but the night before the move is not the time to skimp on sleep. Get a full eight hours of shut eye to prepare for the day ahead and keep your personal health and safety in mind at all times.

Keep Your Eyes Peeled:
Before the madness of the actual move begins, walk around your home and do a double (and triple) check. Look in all closets, attics, nooks and crannies to make sure you haven’t left anything behind. This is also a chance to pack your last-minute items and empty the trash.

Load By Weight:
If you don’t have movers, be sure you remember to load the heaviest items in the truck first. This includes appliances like the refrigerator, washing machine or really any item it takes more than one person to lift. Pack the truck carefully in order to avoid anything getting broken, and having your life at your new home get off to a bad start.

Remember to Clean-Up:
After you or the movers have finished loading up the truck, you are not out of the woods yet. As a responsible homeowner, you are expected to leave the property in acceptable, clean condition. Remember to leave behind a broom, mop and some dusting products in order to complete the task. Or, to make your life much easier, hire a cleaning service.

No matter what, moving day is never easy, both physically or mentally. But if you are organized and prepared, the day can go as smoothy as possible. And hopefully you won’t have to do it again for a very long time!
